Or not, as the case may be. Hero of Sparta is so similar to God of War that it’s a wonder Sony aren’t suing Gameloft! Luckily, Sony don’t have anything to worry about as Hero of Sparta is nothing more than a bad rip-off. Hero of Sparta is to God of War what a cheap Chinese knock-off is to the iPad.
The main problem is the unresponsiveness. You’ll frequently have to battle several enemies at once, and moving around hitting them is a total chore. It takes the game far too long to register button presses, and trying to move around fast is impossible. As a result, the fighting feels far too forced and lacks any fluidity whatsoever. Jumping in the game is done at context-sensitive moments by tapping an on-screen prompt, and tapping it two or three times is very common.
The rest of the game plays out exactly as you would expect from a God of War clone. The story is almost non-existent and to follow it involves watching stuttering cutscenes and dialogue that takes an age to cycle through. Thankfully there’s a skip button during cutscenes and you’ll find yourself reaching for this every time. Following the story just isn’t worth the time it takes to watch the cutscenes, even less so with the stuttering. --- excerpt from gamestyle.com (click here to read more about the review).
